MIAMI REJECTS DONALD TRUMP!!

This is what democracy looks like!! On Saturday, April 5th, 2025, I witnessed a tremendous protest in Miami, FL, rejecting Donald Trump, DOGE, Elon Musk and the ultra-right which looks to erode our civil liberties and create a police state. The MAGA Republicans want to deport the undocumented (regardless if they’ve been here a few months or 20+ years). They want to separate families, undermine the women’s rights movement, dictate reproductive rights, trample on civil rights and civil liberties, while defunding all programs they disagree with. They want to ignore the Courts and ignore decisions that run contrary to their agenda. They seek to abandon our allies, allow genocide in Gaza, and steal lands around the world. When Trump talks about seizing Greenland, making Canada the 51st state, and/or stealing the Panama Canal, that’s not empty rhetoric. He should be taken very seriously, as he is very dangerous. He’s a president who rules by executive order. No one dares defy him Congress. And the Supreme Court, with justices like Clarence Thomas, do his political bidding out in the open.

I’m so grateful I was able to be a part of this protest. It brought back memories of being a Bernie Sanders delegate in Philly in 2016, of fighting the black snake at Standing Rock, and of so many other battles I’ve been a part of.

With regard to the protest, the Miami Police Department did a great job, and the protest organizers did their best to keep everyone off the street and making themselves heard in an orderly fashion. Don’t let the MAGA fanatics, FOX News, Newsmax (etc) make you think that Anti-Trump protesters are out there overturning cars or setting buildings on fire. Don’t believe their lies. While it is true that many of us are disgusted by what Trump is doing in the name of the American people, we are not thugs, looters, or menaces to society. We are workers, students, seniors and the youth. While we are outraged, we resist through peaceful means, dissenting on social media, and raising awareness with everyone we come into contact with.
